While in law school, Rob worked as an aide in the Florida Legislature. Upon graduating from the F.S.U. College of Law with high honors, Rob was recognized by the Florida Supreme Court for the highest score on the statewide Florida Bar Exam. After serving as an Air Force attorney in North Carolina, Germany, and Florida, Rob entered private law practice in Ft. Walton Beach where he still practices with the Adoption Center and Robison R. Harrell & Associates. For 29 years he has focused his practice on adoptions. He is also executive director of New Hope Adoptions, a Florida non-profit adoption agency. Rob is a long standing member of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys and a founding director of the Florida Adoption Council. For the past six years, he has served as president of the Council, until just this year turning over the gavel to Stephen Price. Rob has previously been awarded the Council’s Adoption Star Award.
Rob is married and has two daughters, one of whom is adopted. During high school, he was very active in football, baseball, and basketball. His favorite sport was football and he received the Pensacola News Journal’s “Best Pass Receiver In Northwest Florida” award his senior year. Formerly a devout Gator fan, he says he finally saw the light and converted to being a Seminole. Music has always been his primary hobby and he has performed professionally for many years. He and his wife have opened Crossroads Coffeehouse in Fort Walton Beach where they perform on weekends and serve as pastors of a non-traditional church.
